Since Abante’ s arrival at the island, the colleagues have been working diligently to serve the community, through some pre-arranged projects and other organic opportunities. One special organization the program has been involved with is Hogar Ruth, under the direction and leadership of Mrs. Baira Soto. This is a shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. The home serves as a place where these broken families can feel protected and secure.

The colleagues have been serving at Hogar Ruth twice a week for a month and a half, through different activities geared to mentor, entertained, and provide opportunities for them to feel loved. The team has provided sports events, a movie day, a spa day for the ladies, a baking event, music entertainment, and even a carnival for the final service day.

Because of the nature of the organization, and for legal reasons, it is impossible to post pictures of the team in action, of any of the women and the children currently in the program, or of the facilities. However, here you will find a couple of photos of the team after the carnival event at Hogar Ruth. Abante International is proud to collaborate with an organization that is making a difference in the island, by protecting those who cannot protect themselves.
