As the colleagues began their first weeks with Abante International in Atlanta, GA, they quickly learned the pace of the program was going to be faster than anticipated. Every day was filled with training sessions, lectures, hikes, Academics, movies and adventures.

The first week began with training’s in cross culture environments (Taught by Guest speaker, Roger Daniel), a visit to a monastery followed with teachings on servant leadership – and the teams first discipleship principal on “Knowing” the word was introduced. The team also enjoyed a beautiful hike and picnic at a local park and finished the week with a “Mexican Themed Movie Night”.

The second week was packed with guest speakers and the teams’ first group workout. Guest presenter, Jeff Hannah came out to speak to the team on Global Frameworks. He also did a session on God and Science (intelligent Design). Mr. Hannah shared his story of being a Market Place Missionary in a global context. The team also served with Kelli Willard working on putting together “Operation Compassion” Christmas shoe-boxes as their first community project. The week finished out with a Church of God “You and Your Church” training conference in Athens, GA, where the team was able to serve the pastors of the state, as well as participate in ministry training from some of Georgia’s most qualified presenters.

The team is off to a great start, and everyone is beginning to feel the strain of such a busy lifestyle. But the team is growing closer, and learning more and more each day about how much the people around them truly matter. As they journey on in their last two weeks of the Atlanta portion, they will experience many more hard and beautiful lessons, but through it all they will continue to grow closer as a team, grow stronger as a person, and grow more confident as a disciple of Christ.
